Upon your arrival at Islamabad International Airport, our Hunza Explorers representative will warmly welcome you at the international or domestic arrival area, or at your designated location in Islamabad or Rawalpindi.

After a friendly meet and greet with our team, you will be comfortably transferred in a private vehicle to your hotel in Islamabad. The drive offers your first glimpse of Pakistan’s modern capital, set against the scenic backdrop of the Margalla Hills.

Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to relax after your international journey.

After breakfast, we begin an exciting and scenic journey from Islamabad toward the breathtaking region of Chitral, located in the far north of Pakistan. The drive offers a beautiful transition from the plains into the rugged mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with changing landscapes, river valleys, and traditional settlements along the way.

We travel through the picturesque districts of Lower Dir and Upper Dir, where travelers can observe charming Pashtun villages, terraced fields, and mountain rivers flowing through deep valleys. These regions reflect the authentic rural culture and natural beauty of northern Pakistan.

A key highlight of the journey is crossing the legendary Lowari Tunnel, an engineering marvel that connects Dir with Chitral District. Passing through this tunnel brings us into the remote and culturally rich world of Chitral Valley, surrounded by towering mountains and pristine landscapes.

As we continue through Chitral District, the route passes through several small traditional villages, offering glimpses of local life, wooden houses, and lush green valleys framed by snow-covered peaks.

After breakfast in Chitral, we begin our scenic journey toward Mastuj, located in the remote and breathtaking region of Upper Chitral. The drive follows the course of the Yarkhun River, offering spectacular views of rugged mountains, fertile valleys, and traditional settlements along the way.

En route, we pass through the charming village of Bunni, known for its peaceful surroundings, traditional wooden houses, and beautiful riverside scenery. The journey continues through several small villages of Upper Chitral, where travelers can observe the authentic lifestyle of local communities living in harmony with nature.

As we move deeper into Upper Chitral, the landscapes become increasingly dramatic, with snow-capped peaks, wide river valleys, and untouched natural beauty defining the region. This route offers one of the most scenic drives in northern Pakistan, far from the usual tourist trails.

Upon arrival in Mastuj, a historic mountain town surrounded by towering peaks and serene valleys, guests are transferred to the hotel for check-in and rest after the journey.

After breakfast in Mastuj, we continue our journey toward the legendary Shandur Pass, traveling through some of the most remote and scenic landscapes of Upper Chitral Valley. The drive follows winding mountain roads alongside rivers, with ever-changing views of rugged peaks, green meadows, and traditional settlements.

Along the way, we pass through small and picturesque villages of Upper Chitral, each offering a glimpse into the simple mountain lifestyle, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality of the local communities. These stops provide excellent opportunities for photography and interaction with the local people.

As we ascend higher toward Shandur Pass, the landscape opens into vast alpine plateaus surrounded by snow-capped peaks and endless horizons. Known as one of the highest mountain passes in the region, Shandur sits at an altitude of around 3,700 meters and is famous for its dramatic scenery and cultural significance.

Upon arrival at Shandur Top, tents are set up in the open alpine landscape for an unforgettable overnight camping experience. Surrounded by mountains, fresh mountain air, and peaceful silence, this is one of the most unique high-altitude camping locations in Pakistan.

These three days are dedicated to experiencing the vibrant and world-famous Shandur Polo Festival, held at the spectacular Shandur Pass, one of the highest polo grounds in the world at approximately 3,700 meters above sea level. Surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Hindu Kush Mountains, this natural amphitheater becomes a hub of culture, sport, and celebration.

Each day, the highlight of the festival is the thrilling freestyle polo matches between the rival teams of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. Played in traditional style without many modern restrictions, the matches are fast-paced, energetic, and deeply rooted in the ancient mountain polo tradition. The sound of galloping horses, cheering crowds, and the backdrop of towering peaks create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Beyond the polo ground, the festival offers a rich cultural experience. Visitors can enjoy traditional music performances, local folk dances, and vibrant cultural displays that reflect the heritage of the mountain communities from both regions. The festival grounds come alive with colors, sounds, and celebrations throughout the day.

After breakfast at Shandur Pass, we begin our scenic descent toward the beautiful valley of Gupis, leaving behind the high-altitude landscapes of the festival grounds. The drive offers continuously changing scenery, from vast alpine plateaus to lush green valleys shaped by rivers and mountains.

As we descend, we enter the enchanting Phander Valley, one of the most peaceful and picturesque regions of Ghizer District. Here, travelers are greeted with charming villages, fertile fields, and crystal-clear rivers flowing through the valley. The traditional settlements along the route reflect the simple and welcoming lifestyle of the local communities.

A highlight of the journey is the serene Phander Lake, often referred to as a hidden gem of northern Pakistan. Its calm, turquoise waters surrounded by green meadows and mountains create a perfect setting for photography and relaxation. We also pass by the beautiful Khalti Lake, another stunning water body known for its deep blue color and peaceful surroundings.

After breakfast in Gupis, we begin our scenic journey toward the majestic Gojal Valley (Upper Hunza), traveling through some of the most beautiful and culturally rich landscapes of northern Pakistan. The drive follows the winding routes of Ghizer Valley, where charming villages, rivers, and terraced fields create a peaceful mountain setting.

As we continue, we pass through small settlements along the Ghizer District, each reflecting the traditional mountain lifestyle and warm hospitality of the local communities. The journey gradually transitions from green valleys into the dramatic terrain of the upper mountain regions.

We make a brief stop in Gilgit City, the gateway to the Karakoram Mountains, where travelers can experience the cultural and historical heart of the region. This short break offers an opportunity to explore local life and refresh before continuing the journey.

We then proceed along the legendary Karakoram Highway (KKH), one of the most scenic highways in the world. En route, we explore the historic remnants of the Old Silk Road in the Chalt–Nagar Valley, a region that once served as an important trade route connecting ancient civilizations.

A lunch stop is arranged at the iconic Rakaposhi Viewpoint, where travelers can enjoy a meal while admiring breathtaking views of Rakaposhi Peak (7788m) towering above the valley.

After lunch, the journey continues deeper into Upper Hunza (Gojal Valley), surrounded by glaciers, rugged mountains, and turquoise rivers. By late afternoon, we arrive in Ghulkin, Gulmit, or Passu, where guests are transferred to their hotel for check-in and relaxation.

Today is dedicated to discovering the breathtaking beauty and cultural richness of Lower Gojal (Upper Hunza), one of the most scenic regions of the Karakoram Mountains. The day offers a perfect blend of natural wonders, historical landmarks, and authentic village life.

We begin our journey with a visit to the tranquil Borith Lake, a stunning high-altitude lake surrounded by rugged peaks and open mountain landscapes. Its calm waters and peaceful setting make it an ideal spot for photography and relaxation.

Next, we continue toward the mighty Passu Glacier, a spectacular river of ice flowing through the dramatic mountain terrain. The glacier offers a close-up view of the raw natural forces that shape the Karakoram Range.

We then experience an exciting crossing of the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge, one of the most iconic and adventurous bridges in Pakistan. Suspended above the turquoise waters of the Hunza River, it provides an unforgettable thrill and panoramic views of the surrounding valleys.

Our cultural exploration continues with a visit to the historic Gulmit Old House, where travelers can discover the traditional architecture and fascinating stories of the region’s heritage. This site reflects the deep cultural roots of the Wakhi community of Hunza.

We then hike or visit the ancient Ondra Fort (Poygah), perched above Gulmit Village, offering sweeping views of Gojal Valley, surrounding glaciers, and towering peaks of the Karakoram Mountains. The fort provides a perfect blend of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery.

The day continues with exploration of the charming villages of Gulmit and Ghulkin, where travelers can walk through narrow lanes, observe traditional stone houses, and experience the warm hospitality of the local communities.

By the end of the day, guests return with unforgettable memories of one of the most scenic and culturally rich regions of northern Pakistan.

Today we set out for an unforgettable full-day journey to the legendary Khunjerab Pass (4693m), the highest paved international border crossing in the world, connecting Pakistan with China. The drive follows the iconic Karakoram Highway (KKH), widely regarded as one of the most spectacular mountain roads on Earth.

As we ascend through Upper Gojal Valley, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, with vast mountain ranges, glaciers, and high-altitude plateaus defining the scenery. The journey itself is a major highlight, offering continuous views of the Karakoram Mountains and the remote beauty of northern Pakistan.

Upon reaching Khunjerab Pass, travelers experience the breathtaking atmosphere of one of the highest border regions in the world. Surrounded by snow-covered peaks and wide alpine terrain, this high-altitude frontier offers unforgettable panoramic views and a true sense of isolation at the roof of the world.

We also explore the surrounding Khunjerab National Park, a protected high-altitude reserve known for its unique wildlife and pristine natural environment. With some luck, travelers may spot native species such as the Himalayan ibex, marmots, and other alpine wildlife adapted to extreme mountain conditions.

After spending time at the pass, we begin our return journey toward Ghulkin, Gulmit, or Passu, retracing the scenic route along the Karakoram Highway. En route, we stop at various villages of Upper Gojal Valley, where travelers can capture beautiful photographs of the surrounding mountains, glaciers, and traditional settlements, especially during the seasonal colors of the valley.

By evening, we return to the hotel in Ghulkin / Gulmit / Passu, carrying unforgettable memories of this high-altitude adventure.

Today we continue our journey along the legendary Karakoram Highway (KKH) toward the cultural heart of Hunza Valley, Karimabad. This scenic drive offers one of the most beautiful transitions in northern Pakistan, moving from the dramatic landscapes of Upper Hunza (Gojal) into the historic and culturally rich region of Central Hunza.

Our first major stop is the breathtaking Attabad Lake, a stunning turquoise water body formed by a natural landslide. Surrounded by towering cliffs and mountains, the lake is one of the most iconic attractions in the region and offers excellent photography opportunities.

We then visit the fascinating Sacred Rocks of Hunza, an important historical site featuring ancient carvings and inscriptions that reflect the region’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

The journey continues toward the beautiful Hopper Valley in the Nagar Region, where we explore the impressive Hopper Glacier. This dramatic glacier landscape, surrounded by towering peaks, offers a striking contrast of ice, rock, and alpine scenery, making it one of the most scenic detours of the journey.

After exploring Hopper Valley, we continue our drive toward Karimabad, passing through scenic valleys and traditional mountain settlements along the way.

Before reaching Karimabad, we stop at the historic Ganish Village, one of the oldest settlements in Hunza Valley. Walking through its narrow lanes, travelers can admire centuries-old architecture, traditional houses, and cultural landmarks that reflect the deep history of the region.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Karimabad, the former capital of the Hunza kingdom. Upon arrival, guests are transferred to the hotel for check-in and relaxation after a full day of exploration.

Today is dedicated to discovering the cultural heart of Central Hunza Valley, where history, heritage, and mountain landscapes come together in one of the most scenic regions of northern Pakistan.

We begin the day in Karimabad, a historic mountain town once known as the capital of the Hunza State. The first visits take us to the iconic Baltit Fort, a centuries-old heritage fortress offering insight into the royal history and traditional architecture of the region. From here, we continue to the beautifully preserved Altit Fort, one of the oldest forts in the Karakoram region, surrounded by ancient settlements and dramatic valley views.

We also explore the Royal Garden of Altit, a peaceful heritage site that reflects the traditional lifestyle and cultural richness of Hunza Valley, with carefully restored gardens and stunning mountain backdrops.

Later, we take a leisurely walk through the vibrant Karimabad Bazaar, where narrow streets are lined with local handicrafts, traditional food, and warm hospitality. This bustling market offers a perfect opportunity to experience the daily life and culture of the local people.

In the late afternoon, we drive up to Duiker (Eagle’s Nest), one of the most famous viewpoints in Hunza Valley. From this elevated ridge, travelers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Central Hunza, Nagar Valley, and surrounding snow-covered peaks of the Karakoram Mountains.

As the sun sets, Duiker transforms into a magical viewpoint where golden light spreads across the valleys and peaks, creating one of the most unforgettable sunset experiences in Pakistan.

After sunset, we return to Karimabad for overnight stay.

After breakfast in Karimabad (Hunza Valley), we begin our return journey toward Besham or Naran, depending on the seasonal accessibility of Babusar Pass. This marks the final travel day through the spectacular mountain landscapes of northern Pakistan.

We drive along the iconic Karakoram Highway (KKH), following the course of deep river valleys and towering mountain ranges. Along the way, we pause at the famous junction point where three great mountain ranges meet—the Karakoram, Himalaya, and Hindu Kush—offering one of the most dramatic viewpoints in the region, with distant views of Nanga Parbat (8126m).

If weather and road conditions permit, we continue via the scenic Babusar Pass (4173m) route. Here, travelers are rewarded with breathtaking alpine landscapes, including the serene Lulusar Lake, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and open mountain meadows.

If the Babusar Pass route is closed, we proceed via Besham, traveling through the rugged and scenic Kohistan Valley along the Indus River, with its dramatic cliffs and winding mountain roads.

En route, we make short stops for photography and rest, allowing travelers to fully enjoy the changing landscapes of northern Pakistan one last time.

Upon arrival in Besham or Naran, guests are transferred to the hotel for check-in and relaxation after a long but unforgettable travel day.

After breakfast, we begin our final drive from Naran or Besham toward Islamabad, marking the conclusion of an unforgettable journey through northern Pakistan. The route offers one last opportunity to enjoy the changing landscapes, from lush valleys or rugged river canyons depending on the route taken via Babusar Pass or Karakoram Highway (KKH).

En route, we make a meaningful cultural stop at the historic city of Taxila, one of the most important archaeological sites in South Asia. Here, travelers visit the renowned Taxila Museum and nearby heritage sites, where ancient relics of the Gandhara Civilization showcase the region’s rich historical legacy.

Upon arrival in Islamabad, we explore the highlights of Pakistan’s modern capital. The first stop is the iconic Faisal Mosque, an architectural masterpiece set against the scenic backdrop of the Margalla Hills. We then continue to the impressive Pakistan Monument, a national symbol representing unity and heritage.

Depending on available time, travelers may also explore local markets in Islamabad, offering a final chance to experience the city’s culture, crafts, and cuisine.

Later in the evening, we ensure a smooth and timely transfer to Islamabad International Airport, with arrival well in advance of your scheduled departure flight.
