Gilgit Baltistan Spring Tour

Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, we receive you and transfer you to our hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan's modern and beautifully planned capital. Set against the backdrop of the Margalla Hills National Park, the city offers a relaxed introduction to the country before we begin our journey through the spectacular spring landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Depending on your arrival time, we begin exploring some of Islamabad's most iconic attractions. We visit the magnificent Faisal Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, followed by the scenic Daman-e-Koh Viewpoint, which offers panoramic views across the city and the surrounding Margalla Hills. If time permits, we may also visit the impressive Pakistan Monument, explore the fascinating Lok Virsa Museum, or enjoy some leisure time at Centaurus Mall.

For travellers arriving on evening or late-night flights, we transfer directly to the hotel, allowing time to rest and recover before the adventure begins.

In the evening, we hold a short tour briefing, introducing the journey ahead, answering any questions, and providing useful information about travelling through Gilgit-Baltistan during the spring blossom season.

After an early breakfast, we transfer to Islamabad International Airport for our spectacular flight to Skardu, one of the most scenic mountain flights in the world. Weather permitting, the journey offers breathtaking aerial views of the mighty Himalayas, Karakoram, and Nanga Parbat (8,126 m), the world's ninth-highest mountain.

Upon arrival in Skardu, we begin our scenic drive east through the fertile valleys of Baltistan, following the beautiful Shyok River towards the historic town of Khaplu. Along the way, we pass traditional Balti villages, snow-capped peaks, glacial rivers, and blossoming orchards, where apricot, cherry, apple, and almond trees create a colourful spring landscape unique to this part of northern Pakistan.

Arriving in Khaplu, one of Baltistan's oldest and most picturesque settlements, we check in to our hotel before enjoying a leisurely walk through the village. During spring, the narrow lanes, traditional stone houses, historic mosques, and blossom-filled orchards create a peaceful atmosphere that perfectly introduces us to the cultural heritage of Baltistan.

Surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery and colourful spring blossoms, we relax and prepare for the days ahead as we continue exploring the remarkable valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan.

If the flight to Skardu is cancelled due to weather or operational reasons, we will continue our journey by road via the legendary Karakoram Highway, with an overnight stay in Besham or Chilas, depending on road conditions, departure time, and overall travel progress. We will continue towards Skardu the following day.

After breakfast, we spend the day exploring the charming town of Khaplu, one of the most beautiful spring destinations in Baltistan. As the valley awakens after winter, colourful apricot, cherry, almond, and apple blossoms blanket the orchards, creating a spectacular contrast against the snow-covered peaks surrounding the valley.

We begin with a visit to the beautifully restored Khaplu Fort, one of Baltistan's finest examples of traditional architecture. Perched above the valley, the fort offers magnificent views over the blossoming orchards, the Shyok River, and the surrounding mountains. We also visit the historic Chaqchan Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Gilgit-Baltistan, renowned for its unique blend of Tibetan, Kashmiri, and Islamic architectural influences.

Later, we wander through the traditional streets of Khaplu, where blossom-filled gardens, historic houses, and friendly local communities provide wonderful opportunities to experience the authentic culture of Baltistan. Throughout the day, we make frequent stops to photograph the vibrant spring blossoms that make Khaplu Valley one of Pakistan's most picturesque destinations during March and April.

After a relaxing day surrounded by the colours of spring, we return to our hotel for another peaceful evening in Khaplu.

If our flight to Skardu was cancelled on Day 2

After breakfast, we continue our journey by road via the Karakoram Highway towards Skardu, travelling through the dramatic landscapes of northern Pakistan. Following the spectacular Indus River, we arrive in Skardu during the afternoon and check in to our hotel. Depending on our arrival time, we may enjoy a short walk around the town before preparing to continue our spring blossom journey through Baltistan.

After breakfast, we leave the peaceful surroundings of Khaplu and begin our journey back towards Skardu, following the scenic Shyok River through the heart of Baltistan. Along the way, colourful orchards bursting with apricot, cherry, almond, and apple blossoms accompany us for much of the drive, with snow-covered peaks providing a magnificent backdrop throughout the journey.

Our first major stop is the beautiful Shigar Valley, often referred to as the gateway to the mighty Karakoram. Here, we visit the beautifully restored Shigar Fort, a remarkable example of Balti architecture that has stood for over 400 years. Surrounded by blossoming orchards and traditional stone houses, the fort offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and culture of Baltistan. We also take time to stroll through the charming village of Shigar, where spring transforms the valley into a colourful paradise.

Continuing towards Skardu, we stop at the spectacular Katpana Cold Desert, one of the world's highest cold deserts. The striking sand dunes, framed by snow-capped mountains and colourful spring blossoms in the surrounding villages, create a landscape unlike anywhere else in Pakistan and provide outstanding opportunities for photography.

By afternoon, we arrive in Skardu, the gateway to some of the world's highest mountains. After checking in to our hotel, we explore the town at a relaxed pace, visiting the local bazaar where traditional handicrafts, gemstones, dried fruits, and Balti products offer a glimpse into everyday life in the region. If time permits, we also enjoy a walk along the banks of the Indus River or explore some of Skardu's lively streets before returning to our hotel.

After breakfast, we leave Skardu and begin our journey towards the beautiful Hunza Valley, travelling through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in northern Pakistan.

Before joining the Karakoram Highway, we make our way to the picturesque Upper Kachura Lake, one of the jewels of Skardu Valley. During spring, the surrounding villages are covered with colourful apricot, cherry, almond, and apple blossoms, creating a breathtaking setting beneath the snow-capped peaks. We spend time walking through the blossom-filled orchards, enjoying the tranquil atmosphere, and admiring the crystal-clear waters of the lake before continuing our journey.

Reaching the legendary Karakoram Highway, we follow the mighty Indus River through dramatic gorges and towering mountain landscapes. Along the route, we stop to explore the remarkable remains of the Ancient Silk Road, where centuries-old carvings on the rock face stand as silent reminders of the traders, pilgrims, and explorers who once travelled this historic route between South and Central Asia.

Continuing north, we pause at the famous Rakaposhi View Point, where the magnificent Rakaposhi (7,788 m) rises directly above the valley floor. Surrounded by blossoming trees and lush green fields, this is one of the finest viewpoints along the Karakoram Highway and an ideal place to enjoy the spectacular scenery and capture memorable photographs.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Karimabad, the historic capital of the former Hunza State. After checking in to our hotel, we may enjoy a leisurely walk through the town if time allows, taking in the peaceful atmosphere, colourful spring blossoms, and panoramic views of Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, and the iconic Ladyfinger Peak (Bublimotin) before returning to the hotel for the evening.

After breakfast, we spend the day exploring Karimabad, the historic heart of Hunza Valley and one of Pakistan's most spectacular spring destinations. During March and April, the valley comes alive as thousands of apricot, cherry, almond, apple, and plum trees burst into bloom, creating a breathtaking contrast against the snow-covered peaks of the Karakoram.

We begin our exploration with a visit to the magnificent Baltit Fort, a beautifully restored 700-year-old fortress that once served as the royal residence of the former rulers of Hunza. Perched high above the valley, the fort offers spectacular panoramic views of the blossom-filled orchards, traditional villages, and the towering peaks of Rakaposhi (7,788 m), Ultar Sar (7,388 m), and Ladyfinger Peak (Bublimotin).

Next, we visit the historic Altit Fort, one of the oldest surviving forts in Gilgit-Baltistan, followed by a leisurely walk through the beautifully maintained Altit Royal Garden. Surrounded by colourful spring blossoms, the gardens provide a peaceful setting while offering fascinating insights into the rich history of the former Hunza State.

Later, we explore the vibrant Karimabad Bazaar, where we browse local handicrafts, gemstones, handwoven carpets, traditional textiles, and locally produced dried fruits while experiencing the warm hospitality of the people of Hunza Valley. Throughout the day, we also enjoy leisurely walks through the blossom-filled orchards surrounding the town, making the most of the spectacular spring scenery.

In the late afternoon, we drive to the famous Duikar (Eagle's Nest) Viewpoint, one of the finest panoramic viewpoints in Hunza Valley. From here, we watch the sun slowly set behind the snow-covered peaks, as the golden evening light illuminates Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, Ladyfinger Peak, Golden Peak, and Diran Peak. The changing colours of the mountains and the blossom-covered valley below create an unforgettable finale to the day and one of the best photography opportunities of the entire tour.

After sunset, we return to our hotel in Karimabad for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we leave Karimabad and cross the Hunza River into Nagar Valley, where we visit the spectacular Hopar Valley, one of the most picturesque spring destinations in Gilgit-Baltistan. Surrounded by colourful apricot, cherry, almond, and apple blossoms, the valley offers breathtaking views of the impressive Hopar Glacier, Barpu Glacier, and the snow-covered peaks that dominate the skyline. We take time to walk through the peaceful village, admire the spring blossoms, and capture some of the finest mountain scenery in northern Pakistan.

Returning to the legendary Karakoram Highway, we continue our journey towards Gojal (Upper Hunza). Along the way, we stop at the fascinating Sacred Rocks of Hunza, an important archaeological site featuring centuries-old inscriptions, petroglyphs, and carvings left behind by traders, pilgrims, and travellers who once journeyed along the ancient Silk Road.

Continuing north, we arrive at the magnificent Attabad Lake, whose brilliant turquoise waters create a striking contrast with the colourful spring blossoms and rugged mountain scenery surrounding the lake. We spend time enjoying the spectacular views and capturing photographs before continuing to our hotel in Upper Hunza.

After checking in, the remainder of the day is at leisure. If time permits, we enjoy a relaxed walk through the nearby village, where blossom-filled orchards, traditional Wakhi homes, and panoramic mountain views provide a wonderful introduction to the unique beauty and culture of Gojal (Upper Hunza).

After breakfast, we spend the day discovering the breathtaking spring landscapes of Gojal (Upper Hunza), where colourful orchards, traditional Wakhi villages, and dramatic mountain scenery combine to create one of the most beautiful regions in Gilgit-Baltistan during the blossom season.

Our morning begins with leisurely walks through the charming villages of Gulmit and Ghulkin, where thousands of apricot, cherry, almond, apple, and plum trees bloom beneath the towering peaks of the Karakoram. Surrounded by traditional stone houses, irrigated fields, and welcoming local communities, these villages offer an authentic glimpse into Wakhi culture while providing outstanding opportunities for blossom photography.

We then continue to Zero Point above Borith, where we begin a rewarding hike to the spectacular Passu White Glacier. The trail passes through rugged mountain terrain before reaching impressive viewpoints overlooking the glacier. Along the way, we are rewarded with magnificent panoramas of the iconic Passu Cones, Shishper Peak, the mighty Batura Glacier, and the surrounding peaks that make this one of the finest hikes in Upper Hunza.

After returning from the glacier, we stop at the tranquil Borith Lake, a peaceful alpine lake surrounded by blossoming trees and dramatic mountain scenery. During spring, the colourful orchards and reflections on the crystal-clear water create one of the most photogenic locations in the region.

Our final stop is the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge, one of Pakistan's most iconic mountain bridges. Crossing the Hunza River, the bridge offers breathtaking views of the Passu Glacier, Batura Glacier, the turquoise river below, and the distinctive Passu Cones, providing a memorable finale to another remarkable day in Upper Hunza.

After a day filled with spectacular scenery, spring blossoms, and unforgettable mountain landscapes, we return to our hotel for the evening.

After an early breakfast, we set off on one of the most scenic drives in northern Pakistan as we follow the legendary Karakoram Highway towards the spectacular Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m), the highest paved international border crossing in the world.

As we travel through Upper Gojal, the scenery gradually changes from blossom-filled villages to the vast alpine landscapes of Khunjerab National Park. Along the route, we pass through the historic trading town of Sost before continuing towards the Pakistan–China border, keeping an eye out for wildlife such as the Himalayan Ibex, Blue Sheep, Golden Marmot, and Golden Eagle that inhabit the national park.

Upon reaching Khunjerab Pass, we have time to explore the border area, admire the spectacular mountain scenery, and capture photographs at one of Pakistan's most iconic landmarks. Surrounded by towering peaks and high-altitude plateaus, this is one of the highlights of our journey through Gilgit-Baltistan.

On our return journey, we take a slower pace to fully appreciate the colourful spring landscapes of Upper Gojal. We stop in the picturesque villages of Sost, Moorkhun, Gulapan, Khyber, and Passu, where blossoming apricot and cherry orchards, traditional Wakhi homes, and magnificent mountain scenery create unforgettable views. Each village has its own unique charm, offering wonderful opportunities to experience local life while enjoying the beauty of spring.

Our final stop is the famous viewpoint overlooking the iconic Passu Cones, one of the most photographed mountain landscapes in Pakistan. With the dramatic peaks rising above the blossom-filled valley, this is the perfect place to capture memorable group photographs and enjoy one last look at one of the most spectacular panoramas in Upper Hunza.

After another unforgettable day exploring the northernmost reaches of Pakistan, we return to our hotel in Upper Hunza.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to the blossom-filled villages of Gojal (Upper Hunza) and begin our scenic journey towards the beautiful Ghizer Valley, one of the greenest and most peaceful valleys in Gilgit-Baltistan. Travelling south along the legendary Karakoram Highway, we retrace our route through Hunza Valley before turning west towards Gilgit and continuing into the picturesque valleys of Ghizer District.

The journey offers constantly changing scenery, from the towering peaks of the Karakoram to fertile valleys, glacial rivers, traditional villages, and colourful orchards that continue to bloom throughout the spring season. We make several stops along the way to admire the landscapes, stretch our legs, and capture photographs of the spectacular mountain scenery.

As we travel deeper into Ghizer Valley, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tranquil. Crystal-clear rivers, lush meadows, snow-capped mountains, and blossom-filled villages accompany us as we follow the Ghizer River towards the charming town of Gupis. Renowned for its peaceful setting and natural beauty, Gupis is one of the hidden gems of northern Pakistan and serves as an excellent base for exploring the western valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Upon arrival, we check in to our hotel before taking a leisurely walk around Gupis if time permits. Surrounded by flowering orchards, traditional homes, and magnificent mountain scenery, the town offers a perfect opportunity to experience the slower pace of life that makes Ghizer Valley so special.

After breakfast, we continue our journey through the heart of Ghizer District, exploring two of the region's most beautiful valleys during the spring blossom season. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear rivers, and colourful orchards, today offers a wonderful combination of spectacular scenery, peaceful villages, and authentic local culture.

Our first destination is the picturesque Phandar Valley, often regarded as one of the most scenic valleys in Gilgit-Baltistan. We spend time at the beautiful Phandar Lake, where the emerald-green waters reflect the surrounding mountains and blossom-covered trees. During spring, the valley is transformed by colourful apricot, cherry, and apple blossoms, creating one of the most photogenic landscapes in northern Pakistan. We also take time to explore the nearby villages, where traditional homes, cultivated fields, and warm local hospitality provide an authentic glimpse into life in Ghizer Valley.

We visit some of Yasin's picturesque villages, where apricot, cherry, almond, and apple trees bloom against a backdrop of towering mountains. After breakfast, we bid farewell to the peaceful landscapes of Ishkoman Valley and begin our scenic drive back to Gilgit, following the fertile valleys and crystal-clear rivers of Ghizer District. The journey offers beautiful views of snow-capped peaks, traditional mountain villages, and colourful spring orchards that continue to decorate the valleys during this wonderful season.

Travelling alongside the Ghizer River, we pass through a series of picturesque settlements before rejoining the Karakoram Highway and continuing to Gilgit, the administrative and commercial centre of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Upon arrival, we check in to our hotel before setting out to explore the city. Depending on the available time, we visit the historic Kargah Buddha, an impressive 7th-century rock carving that reflects the region's rich Buddhist heritage. We also explore the lively Gilgit Bazaar, where local handicrafts, gemstones, traditional textiles, dried fruits, and regional products provide an authentic glimpse into everyday life in northern Pakistan.

If time permits, we enjoy a walk along the banks of the Gilgit River or visit one of the city's scenic viewpoints, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains as the day draws to a close.

After a relaxed afternoon discovering the cultural heart of Gilgit-Baltistan, we return to our hotel for our final evening in the mountains.

After breakfast, we leave Gilgit and begin our journey south along the legendary Karakoram Highway, regarded as one of the world's greatest mountain roads. Following the mighty Indus River, today's drive takes us through an ever-changing landscape of towering mountains, deep gorges, historic settlements, and dramatic river valleys, offering one last opportunity to admire the breathtaking scenery of northern Pakistan.

As we travel through the heart of the Karakoram, we make several scenic stops along the way to enjoy panoramic viewpoints, capture photographs, and appreciate the remarkable engineering of the highway, which has connected Pakistan and China through some of the world's most challenging mountain terrain.

Passing through traditional towns and villages, we gradually descend from the high mountains into the lower valleys of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the landscape begins to change from rugged peaks to greener hillsides.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Besham, where we check in to our hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening after one of the most scenic road journeys in Pakistan.

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning at your hotel before checking out. Depending on your international flight schedule, we continue exploring Islamabad, giving you the opportunity to discover more of Pakistan's beautiful capital before your journey home.

If time permits, we may visit additional attractions, enjoy a leisurely walk through one of the city's parks, browse local markets for last-minute souvenirs, or simply relax at a café while reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the past two weeks.

Approximately three hours before your scheduled departure, we transfer you to Islamabad International Airport, ensuring a comfortable and timely arrival for your onward flight.
